Pigmentation marks are due to the accumulation of two pigments on the surface of the epidermis: melanin (melanogenesis dysfunction resulting in excess melanin production) and lipofuscin (no longer naturally recycled by the body, causing excessive oxidative stress).
The primary stimulator of pigmentation marks is the sun, which disrupts the pigmentation process.
