The main pigment of the marks is melanin. It is synthesized in the epidermis by cells known as melanocytes.
Excessive melanocyte stimulation leads to the excess production of melanin and, consequently, skin hyperpigmentation.
The main factor is the sun which, by stimulating a number of mediators (?-MSH or endothelin), forms brown marks on the skin’s surface.
